As a result of problems detected with the cladding of the facade due to an episode of platelets falling onto public roads.
To the date on which the project begins, no commercial solution offers a response to the first of the conditions that, in mid-2014, the basic project already contemplated. Definitively, the double security system that must guarantee the permanence of the ceramic tiles on the façade had to be created ex novo.
At the end of 2014 we contacted Flexbrick, a company based in Barcelona that, although at that time it did not manufacture exactly what we needed, it did have a "ceramic fabric" that allowed us to get excited about a possible solution. The initial contact was with the then director of the technical office Jaume Colom. Later, Vicenç Sarrablo, general director, and Lluis Pinardell, general director of Piera Ecocerámica, a company that would be in charge of manufacturing the platelets, would join. The enthusiasm and dedication with which we all joined the R&D phase led us to obtain the first prototypes that arrived at the Girasol building in early 2015.
